Course Offerings & Progressive Curriculum

Classes generally meet once a week and run continually throughout the academic year organized by terms running approximately 10-12 weeks in length. Our curriculum and projects are designed to present a progressing level of skill and challenge so that students can gain the most out of our program. Our small class size and individualized instruction allows you to join at any time********.

Introduction to Clay

4 - 8 Years Old
An introduction to a variety of clay media geared towards the attention span and motor coordination of children ages 4 to 8. The class emphasizes exploration of the fundamentals of pottery with an introduction in using a pottery wheel while also learning handbuilding techniques of pinch, coil and slab building. Class will be 1 hour long and is limited to 8 students.

Homeschool - Clay

4-14
Students will learn basic pottery and handbuilding skills in this class. The class emphasizes the fundamentals of pottery where students will learn basic wheel throwing techniques while also exploring some handbilding skills of pinch, coil and slab building. All materials & tools are included in the tuition. Class will be 1 hour long and is limited to 8 students.

Basic Drawing

5-8
An introduction to representational drawing geared to the attention span and motor coordination of 5 to 8 year olds. Students quickly learn to recognize the elements of shape and are introduced to various choices of how to interpret the lesson and in their own creative way, rendering of the subject and background. Curriculum is progressive and your child will not repeat projects in each of the semesters they attend for that age group.

A fun introductory class in painting geared toward the exploration of the different paint mediums available, different styles of painting and the variety of painting surfaces to use. Class will focus on painting techniques only to help develop this skill set.

Clay Pottery & Modeling

8 - Adult
Students will learn basic pottery and handbuilding skills in this class. The class emphasizes the fundamentals of pottery where students will learn basic wheel throwing techniques while also exploring some handbilding skills of pinch, coil and slab building. All materials & tools are included in the tuition. Class will be 1.5 hours long and is limited to 8 students.

Drawing Fundamentals

9 - 12 Years Old
An introduction to representational drawing geared to the attention span and motor coordination of a 9 to 12 year old. Students will learn the Elements of Shape and how to use them in creating drawings from a variety of realistic, abstract, and expressionistic styles. Lessons will introduce them to inspirations from 2Dimensional graphic materials, 3Dimensional objects, the human form, perspective, and proportion. Curriculum is progressive and your child will not repeat projects in each of the semesters they attend for that age group.

Intermediate Drawing

11 - 13 Years Old
A class for ages 11-13 who have achieved the skill level of working independently on projects and rarely needing a step-by-step demonstration by the teacher. Geared for the student who has mastered the basic skills in line, shape, proportion, perspective, and the ability to create volume through light logic using 3 dimensional objects. Is confident enough to explore various subject matter and live models with comfort. Prerequisite: (2) TERMS Drawing Fundamentals & Instructor recommendation.

Drawing: Teens & Adults

13+
A 2-hour Independent Study class for Teens and Adults that ranges from students with no experience to ones who have fairly good basic drawing skills. Will introduce the student to all subjects, media, and styles of drawing and painting. A Pay-As-U-Go option is available.
Media: All possible drawing media, water color, and acrylic paint.

Mixed Media/Watercolor Workshop

13+
A weekly mixed media/watercolor class designed for teens and adults. Class meets for 2 hours to explore drawing/painting with a variety of media and watercolor while learning the variety of techniques available in the mediums. Tuition is on a Pay-As-You-Come basis with all materials supplied by Monart.

Acrylic Weekly Workshop

13+
A weekly acrylic painting class designed for teens and adults. Class meets for 2 hours to explore painting with acrylic paints and mediums with emphasis on abstract techniques. Tuition is on a Pay-As-You-Come basis with all basic materials supplied by Monart.
